At the heart of our plans for a new football club in Widnes is to become the beating heart of the Community.
From children wearing our kits in youth matches, people walking down the street wearing their Widnes Town FC shirts with pride or coming together on a Saturday afternoon to cheer on the first team or the ladies team on a Sunday, we want following Widnes Town FC to become part of the culture of this community.
Many people reading this will laugh or dismiss it as not being possible, but the only way to build a successful football team from scratch is to be at the heart of the community.
Using football as a tool to engage young people and the wider community to take pride in place and participate more in community initiatives is also important for this club. We don’t just want to build good football players, we want to build great human beings, too.
Our fist goal is to create a Senior Team for both men and women, playing in Widnes, for the 2026/27 season. We would also like to have male and female 16+ academy teams in place for the same season, if not 2027/28.
Our second target is to partner with existing junior football clubs to provide a player pathway for young players into senior football. By encouraging young players to go into full time football at 16 whilst continuing their education will not only help prepare these players for adult football, but will also help them qualify for a place at University and higher education should they wish to pursue that goal.
By developing our own young talent, we will in part create a sustainable club with local players representing our community at a senior level.
We have a lot of work to do to establish our goals, but hopefully you will see from the information provided on our website that we have a detailed plan in place to deliver our ambitions.
Our goal is to create a football club that is the beating heart of the local community.
