Efforts are underway to bring senior football back to Widnes.
The efforts began following the decision by Widnes Football Club to cease all footballing activity in June, 2025.
Widnes Town Football Club is being created as a community club, with a focus on creating a player pathway from toddlers to Senior Football.
Administration of the club will be through an advisory board, with a community trust created to operate community activities and the academy teams as a separate vehicle from the senior teams. We aspire to partner with an existing junior football club who will operate junior teams in some form of partnership with the club as a standalone entity with full autonomy, or create our own junior section in future years if junior club partners cannot be found.
Our ultimate goal is to make football affordable for spectators and playing football free for young players through fundraising initiatives which will be unveiled in due course.
As a club we have lofty ambitions, how quickly we can achieve those aspirations will depend on community support.
